Now that violence and hatred cross borders, the festival seeks the possibility of nonviolent ethics and practices based on understanding how easily lives can be destroyed, that is, understanding the vulnerability of lives. Precarious Lives will critically engage in how our lives are situated vulnerable in violent social conditions and how diverse lives and minorities are oppressed and dispossessed of their life rights by dominant ideologies, prejudices, and discriminations.
Starting with mourning for the vulnerability of other people's lives, the Drifts festival will build a communal space for caring, healing, recovery, and solidarity with different cultural backgrounds communities. It seeks peaceful coexistence with foreign migrants and refugees in transcultural society beyond nationalism and conservatism by breaking down the discriminatory divisions.
